If You Love Cats & Coffee, Cat Cafes Are Your Purrfect Date
Although I’ve been a cat lover since I was born, I’ve never been to a cat café before. Admittedly I didn’t know they existed in Australia until recently. The concept of cat cafes began in Taiwan in the late 90’s, but it’s Japan that loves them the most with more than 100 cat cafes!
A cat café is a place where cat lovers can play with kitty companions in a relaxing environment while enjoying coffee, tea and snacks. A fantastic idea for people that can’t own cats. Some of the cafes double as adoption centres, which is great for finding these furry felines a forever home.
I started researching to see if there were any in my hometown of Sydney, and low and behold there are a few, plus more around the country. I thought it would be handy to collate a list of the cat cafes by location in Australia. Cat cafes are tricky to establish in Australia because of stringent regulations with food preparation, so it’s pawsome that a few have managed it. Apparently, these cafes get very busy with most requiring a booking beforehand, so be sure to check this before going so that you’re not disappointed, meow!
Please let me know if I’ve missed any cat cafés in the comments 😊
